I don’t want to bore anyone with how stories about how much I loved the Transformers growing up…let’s just say I cried during the Transformers cartoon movie when all the Autobots died in the first 15 minutes.
When I heard they were making a live action, non-cartoon version of Transformers I was excited and worried at the same time. Yet for the last year I found myself watching the movie trailers over and over. I’ve listened to nerds debate about which Autobots and Decepticons should be in the movie. And like geeks everywhere I was skeptical that this would turn into another shitty love story movie like Pearl Harbor. I wanted everything from this movie. I wanted all the magic and the fun that I remember my childhood being. I wanted to re-live a time when I had an imagination and where I would dream of an impossible world. I wanted to be a kid again…I wanted more than any movie could give me….
I’m thrilled to say this movie delivered on all fronts — more than I thought possible. I just spent the last 15 minutes driving home from the theater expecting every car I looked at to transform into some gigantic robot.
Let me just cut to the chase and say this movie was fantastic. No it’s not the best movie ever. No it’s not perfect, but god damn it’s close. The special effects are great. Optimus Prime has his real voice (as crazy as that sounds). The story line is as good as one could hope for. The movie is funny, it’s exciting, it draws you in and never lets you go. I doubt it will win any academy awards, but I don’t give a crap.
This movie was great. Beginning to end it is great.
If you liked Transformers as a kid; if you still hunt ebay looking for a G1 Prime; if you want to be a kid again, even if only for 2.5 hours — this is the movie for you.
Thanks you to everyone who helped make the movie. It was just what this big kid had been dreaming of for years.
How did you already see it???? I am so freaking jelous! I LOVE the transformers. I cannot wait to take my kids next week!
HOW DID YOU SEE IT ALREADY!!!!!!
I saw it last night. Took my kids to a 10:45pm show. My youngest fell asleep. I absolutely fucking loved the movie though. LOVED IT!!! And that chick is hot in it.
Call me a nerd, geek or whatever other word you can think of. Transformers is the only movie that I have gone to the theaters to see multiple times in the last five years. I thought it was that good.
Transformers rocked when we were little.
I will definitely check it, based on your recommendation
Thanks Jabs
Thank Ian
I haven’t seen it yet
I have to disagree …
I saw it two weeks ago and thought it was a bit too cheesy.
If I had to rate it, I’de give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
It does, however, hold true to the original cartoon series.
I could see it going either way
Thank you for posting this. I watched with my kids and we are all looking forward to seeing the movie when it hits the screens in our little town.
Tuesday!
Great to hear!
I think its going to be fantastic! The previews look awesome, and i too have been waiting for it since I saw the first preview last year!
BUT is it going to be too scary for my 4 yr old and 7 yr old boys?
Dude, I TOTALLY know what you mean about Optimus Prime’s voice and I’m thrilled to hear they didn’t fuck with it. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
