I have been a fan of the show from the beginning, and in my opinion, HBO is the best television has to offer. But last nights episode was like being married to the richest person on the planet, and when they die, they leave their money to charity.

The greatest part about being part of the Sopranos family, as a viewer, is how gutsy the show has been. The show eliminated the archaic good and evil, black and white lines by showing that bad people lead normal lives, and good people do bad things. That’s gutsy. The problem though is that when the show needed to be more ballsy than ever. It pussed out.
Now, I see how the show tried build the anticipation through out the whole episode and it was masterfully done. Don’t stop believing by Journey playing on the jut box, all sorts of shady creatures waling around the diner, and Meadow having trouble parking her car. But… If I wanted the ending left up to my own imagination then I would be a television writer myself.

If anyone has ever written a story before, then the one thing you know is that the ending is the hardest thing to come up with. Almost anyone can come up with at least one good idea, but whats sets people who do it for a living apart from those who just have good ideas is completion. A beginning, a middle, and an end. I’m sorry, but this show ended with way too much life in it, and too much story to tell.

Do you think there is going to be a movie? What did you think of the ending?

I was pissed! It sucked! I was in NY over the weekend and all of us drove home just to make sure not to miss th’GRAND FINALLY’. Geez, I wished I could have wrote the script!

I was bummed out, but overall, the series rocked so WTF.
It was his choice to do it..but man, I’d have been happier if there would have been awesome flashbacks from seasons past. Then something major happening, like he went Henry Hill on everyone or something. But Tony wouldn’t have done that. We’ll all have to wait to see if there are really movies going to come out I guess..and I hope we don’t have to wait forever.

Loved Phil’s head being smashed.

I liked M*A*S*H*’s ending better….

p.s. But I hate that Journey song.

I thought something was wrong with my television. But no, it just left me saying, “Uh, what? Are you serious? That’s all we get? Is this brilliance and i just don’t get it? Truthfully though, I really didn’t want to see Tony whacked. Or even his family. But like the episode, i guess i could only imagine it.

It was all a big set-up for the next big Sopranos …

Basically and hour-long tease!

Great topic!! I am a HUGE fan, never missed an episode or season (thanks to DVR). I was upset at first that the show did not go out with a bang, but I read an article (Yahoo front page today) that gave some insight as why the writer of the show left it the way he did and I like it that way. I would have been mad if Tony or Pauly would have been whacked after they made it together this far. I have to be honest though why did they make AJ turn out to be such a punk before it all ended? I wanted him to “be gone.”

Nah.

I lked that AJ found his way.

What pissed me off was that the car caught on fire before the girls bra was off.

Well i was sad that it ended that way but after it was over and i was sitting there thinking about it, i did think well if it was from Tonys point of view, the last scene, then yes him seeing Meadow walking in would be his last visual if he had been shot by one of the questionable guys at another table. Maybe thats why it went to black? He is dead. But then again most gangster shows, movies etc. show the rise and fall of the gangster so if he lived and all is ok in his world? Then he is different than all the others, he didn’t fall. I can see them leaving it up in the air, i mean that show was great and if by chance they ever did want to come back we would all be there watching. Reunion show? Movie? I would be there.

You nailed it. It was lazy story telling with the option open to make a movie if they ever want to. They let their fans down and they let the legacy of the show down. I was really disappointed.

That said…the scene where Phil gets it complete with the kid puking…priceless.

I was soo pissed… If I didn’t love my TV so much I would have thrown something at it… It was SUCH a dissapointment… The last 2 seasons have been a let down.. long waits inbetween and then lack-luster writing and story lines… the only reason I kept watchin was because I believed they could get back to what it was… and then these final episodes were because I wanted to know how it would all end… but nothing… I would have rathered they cancelled the show 2 seasons ago and just left it like that.. it would have been the same thing. But then I wouldn’t have felt let down by the writers/creators.. just HBO.. but now I feel like they ALL let me down.

The head smashing was the only good part.. I had to rewind it and watch it like 3 times I was laughing so hard…

Now that they’re not paying the big Soprano’s salaries can HBO afford to make Entourage a full hour?? I love that show, but each episode leaves me wanting more… like it should be an hour.

Hi Jabs ~ I was glad it turned out the way it did. Left to my own imagination. Some call it weak, some say brilliant. Either way, I woke up today kinda sad that it is finally over. I hope I didn’t let you down with my thoughts. :) Hugs!

So disappointed…

As the time drew nearer for the episode to be over I started getting very fidgity… What’s gonna happen? Then when they got to the diner I though alright, Tony’ll get wacked and that’s that. Very lame but at least it’s closure.

Then when Journey started playing I remembered the interested pre-scripts they did durring many of the season premiers. Sort of showing a montage of things that had occured in the time between seasons. I recall a great one (I think it was season 5 of 6a premier with William S. Burroughs voiceing over music while Janice is breast feeding etc….).

I Was hoping they’d have used the same device but this time with stories of what’s will occur in the near future for the family.

Anyway even at it’s worst The Sopranos was better then most shows at their best. I’m just bummed it ended on that note.

i was so angry.

I thought my tv was broken and then the credits came on and I realized how fucked up this show was. The only good part was when he got his head run over by the SUV

Horrible ending

The ending was GREAT!!! That is all I have heard is how bad the ending was. I don’t get it? if he would have been shot, then people would have been pissed, if he would have been busted by the Feds, people would have been pissed. I think this just showed the genius that is David Chase, its over, he didn’t get shot, he didn’t go to jail, he just ended the show. BY the way, THERE WILL NOT BE A SOPRANOS MOVIE!!! Chase is done with it, and James Gandolfini said he will never be Tony again.

I thought that they should have shot up Bada Bings and had bloody whores lying everywhere and AJ could finally man up and get gangsta and revenge or something, but Meadow’s BF would be like the prosecutor against him… and Carmela could have just been crushed in one of her house buildings. Yea…

the ending really pissed me off too i kept thinking the restaurant was gonna blow up and meadow would be alive cause she couldnt park her damn car. So i hated the ending and i hated how they made A.J turn out to be such a pussy. If tony was my dad i would be one badass mutherfucker!!

I dont think the episode was left to our imagination. I took the ending as… ” I’m Tony, bitch. Yeah, so what if I’m going to be indicted.. I’m still here and I still have my family. What?”

I think the ending was by far rather lame… I mean I heard from some people, that Tony was dead… I don’t know. I do hope they make a movie.. but how are they going to do that when they barely have anyone left. I was really pissed when they killed of Christopher and Bobby. It was like whenever I started to like a character they would kill them off.
